Watson’s Family of Services Saves a Closing

One of the greatest resources we offer is access to Watson’s expansive Family of Services. With in-house mortgage officers, title specialists, and more readily available to agents, they’re able to meet their customers’ needs quickly and efficiently – even when unfortunate circumstances arise, as they did for a buyer recently. 

A buyer working with our Mandarin South Office was in the closing stage of a transaction when they discovered their insurance provider would no longer give them a homeowner’s insurance policy. 

The lack of such a policy had blocked the buyers from completing their transaction. By now, all their belongings were on a truck ready to be unloaded at their new residence. Needless to say, it was not an ideal situation. 

That’s when the buyer’s agent pointed them towards Florida Insurance Concepts, Watson’s in-house insurance company. With the buyers’ consent, the agent worked with Florida Insurance Concepts to draw up a new policy in less than an hour. Not only were the buyers able to finally proceed with their closing, but they even saved money with the new policy!

Keeping Housing Funds for Housing

  Over the last 10 years, more than $2 billion of funds from affordable housing trust funds have been spent on projects completely unrelated to affordable housing rather than the projects they should be funding, like first-time homebuyer programs and other initiatives.   In an effort to create more accountability, Floridians have proposed a constitutional amendment that would place affordable housing funds into a lock box and preserve them for housing projects and nothing else.  The amendment would guarantee that the portion of taxes charged on deeds and mortgages will be put towards a range of housing projects, including first-time homebuyer programs, senior housing, and more.  First, however, the amendment must be added to the ballot.
